Mid-Term Requirements

Mid-Term

The midterm should be turned in by the first of class on March 10, 2012. It will not be any longer than 2 minutes. And, it should include a sampling of each of the following areas.

  • Modeling - hopefully with the character spinning around slowly so I can see its shape from all angles.
  • UV Layout/Texturing - I will want to see the UV's spread out and it would be nice if it slowly shifts to the Texture so that at some point I can see the UV's overlay the Texture.
  • Rigging/Skinning - Again spin the Character around showing the joint placement inside the mesh. Then show me some of the deformations you are proud of due to your hard work in skinning.
  • Animation - A walk or run cycle would be desirable. If you so desire use this animation clip to illustrate your skinning as well but choose wisely.
  • The Game Level - I want to see both the concept the you have draw and assets that have been created. Making sure to include the assets that are to be shared with the class.
  • User Interface - Again I want to see the design process and the resulted Maya objects. If time allows it would be nice to see it inside of Unity.
  • Scripting - The last three weeks of tutorials include a fare amount of scripting. I will need to see the beginnings of these, preferably in an Adobe Acrobat file.
I will be posting an After Effects project file to Mike Dodson ftp:// folder which you will be free to use. Also as a help I have posted a new link on the tutorials page on how to do a turn around your character. Also make sure you look up how to do a playblast. This will allow you to capture you work inside of Maya.

FTP Site Info

Location: animation.mike-dodson.com
User: uvuanimation
Pass: animate!

Place your work under the folder "animation.mike-dodson.com".

I have found that Filezilla is a great FTP program that is easy to use.

Also, if you are running windows you can open Start > My Computer and in the address bar at the top type in "ftp://animation.mike-dodson.com" and press enter. Explorer will then prompt for a user name and password. You will then be able to drag and drop like you would any folder on your computer.
